Tiza Mafira, Executive Director of the Indonesia Plastic Bag Diet Movement, said that she had the opportunity to become a film contributor and speaker at the panel discussion for the film The Story of Plastic. In this film, Tiza is shown as one of the activists fighting plastic pollution in Indonesia, together with Prigi Arisandi from Ecological Observation and Wetlands Conservation (Ecoton) Surabaya.
This documentary video footage is prominently displayed to depict the ongoing disaster, in various countries lands are full of garbage piled up like mountains; rivers and seas clogged with plastic waste; and air polluted by toxic materials from plastic production and recycling processes.
This film also raises the perspective of waste management from the perspective of developed and developing countries. In the film, Indonesia is depicted as a country that is often blamed as the country that contributes the biggest waste, but behind that, developed countries actually have a significant contribution to waste. These conditions create a double standard, which the film then nicely made.
