In commemoration of National Waste Awareness Day on February 21, 2016, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry enacted a paid plastic bag policy, especially in the business world or modern retailers, and the community. The application of paid plastic bags will be aimed at modern retail in stages.
Since the enactment of this regulation, consumers are required to pay for each plastic bag used while shopping. The consideration for the policy was to reduce the use of plastic bags because single-use plastic bags are very difficult to decompose. It takes a relatively long time to decompose single-use plastic bags so they don’t accumulate in the environment. It can also endanger the community environment.
