I am following up on post-baseline research activities in these two markets. The Indonesian Plastic Bag Diet Movement, together with the Banjarmasin City Environmental Service and the Banjarmasin City Trade and Industry Service, carried out a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) with Pandu and Pekauman Market traders to find the right solution to reduce single-use plastic waste in their respective markets.
Mrs. Rifiana, SP, MP at PD Pal Banjarmasin City, hosted this event. The event went smoothly until the end. The traders’ enthusiasm was seen when several dared to voice their opinions—both the pros and cons. The material presented includes information on the amount of single-use plastic traders use daily and tips for reducing single-use plastic. The FGD concluded that 90% of traders agreed to reduce the use of single-use plastic, noting that appropriate solutions that do not harm traders and consumers are needed.
Providers of reusable bags also attended this FGD. So, this event can also be a liaison between traders and providers of reusable bags. At the end of the activity, representatives from sub-districts and the government expressed their support for the scout traders and scouts to carry out this activity well.
