Envirochallenge Online Competition

The COVID-19 pandemic has made many changes in community activities, inseparable from teaching and learning activities, which have shifted to distance learning using online methods. This also impacts environmental education activities that need to adapt approach methods, which currently cannot be done with face-to-face meetings. On this basis, the Indonesian Plastic Bag Diet Movement (GIDKP) is holding the 2022 Envirochallenge Mini Series activity, which will be carried out in a different format from previous years.

Envirochallenge is an educational program initiated by GIDKP to encourage students and school stakeholders to find environmental problems, especially plastic pollution, in their schools and create programs that are right on target as solutions. For example, the Galonisasix program is a program to provide drinking water refill facilities, the GAPEKA program to reduce the use of disposable sanitary napkins, and the MANTAP program reduces single-use cutlery.

This Envirochallenge program has been running since 2016, with one of the supporters of this activity being The Body Shop Indonesia. Envirochallenge has involved more than 50 schools in Jabodetabek, Greater Bandung, and Bali, which have succeeded in encouraging students and related stakeholders from each school to form student groups that implement sustainable solution-based programs that reduce single-use plastic waste in their respective schools.

To expand the impact of the Envirochallenge program and in a series of activities from The Body Shop Indonesia’s #CoolWithoutTrash campaign, the 2022 Envirochallenge Mini Series will be held with various activities. One of the main activities is the launch of the Envirochallenge Module to implement a single-use plastic reduction program aimed at students and teachers in schools. No less exciting, there will be an Envirochallenge Online Competition activity and a workshop for students and teachers on implementing the Envirochallenge module. This year’s Envirochallenge activities will be held online and open to participants throughout Indonesia!

The following is further information about participating in the 2022 Envirochallenge Mini Series activities.
