Bandung (31 March 2022). The increasing interest in online shopping among the public due to the pandemic, which requires reducing direct contact, has made traders at Cihapit and Kosambi Markets start to adapt and keep up with economic developments by providing online shopping services through various platforms such as Whatsapp and Tokopedia. To support this activity, the Indonesian Plastic Bag Diet Movement (GIDKP), together with the Bandung City Government and the Regional Public Company (Perumda) Pasar Juara, are trying to discuss with traders and couriers at Cihapit and Kosambi markets regarding the possibility of plastic-free online shopping at traditional markets.
- This activity will be held on March 31, 2022, at the 90 Kitchen Restaurant, Bandung City.
- A total of 32 guests, including participants in the Plastic Free Online Shopping Workshop, were present to discuss.
- This program aims to ensure that consumers, business actors, and couriers at Kosambi and Cihapit markets can also understand and make efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastics in traditional markets. Business actors and couriers can also provide education to buyers. To start using reusable containers and environmentally friendly bags in online shopping activities in conventional markets.
- In this series of workshop activities, changes in people’s behavior in increasing online shopping activities during the pandemic were discussed, ideas, challenges, and efforts in plastic-free online shopping activities in traditional markets, and forms of support and involvement between parties in supporting plastic-free online shopping activities.
